About the show
About the performance
«ZALYVAKHA ABBEY» — a performance dedicated to the Ukrainian artist of the sixties, Afanas Zalyva, created for the artist's 100th anniversary. The production of the theater center «Word and Voice» explores the artist's inner world, his spiritual resistance and the power of art in times of repression.
The performance is based on — authentic texts of Afanas Zalyvakha and his friends from the sixties: letters, interviews, archival materials and memoirs of Alla Horska, Halyna Sevruk, Nadiyka Svitlichna, Lyudmila Semykina, Vira Khorosheva and Ivan Gel.
The image of the performance is a hermit's workshop-"abbey", a space of constant internal search for the answer to the question "Who are you?". Through words, music, and visual images, the performance speaks of freedom of spirit, art as a form of resistance, and the continuity of Ukrainian cultural memory.
