About the show
About the performance
«Balance» — a performance based on the text by Alina Sarnatska, which honestly and without embellishment speaks about the experience of war. This is a story about people who try to maintain a balance between fear and hope, between feelings and duty, between life and death every day.
The main character was still in school the «forty-first» — an extra child on a broken chair who learned to balance so as not to fall. Years later, this skill helps her survive on the front lines. The play combines black humor, absurdity and tragedy, showing the war as people experience it «here and now» — without pathos and heroism.
The play is dedicated to the Hospitallers and all combat medics who save lives every day.
